Proof of funds for the Canada PR visa

Canada Permanent Residence (PR)

The right to live and work in Canada without a time limit is given to those who do not hold Canadian citizenship through the status known as Permanent Residency (PR). A foreign national must submit an application to Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC), formerly known as Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC), under one of many programs in order to become a permanent resident. A major advantage of permanent residency is the ability to petition for Canadian citizenship after a specific amount of time, in addition to the granted right of abode in Canada.

Proof Of Funds

The proof of funds, also known as settlement funds, demonstrates that you won't have a negative impact on the Canadian economy.

Many immigration programs in Canada demand that applicants provide evidence of their ability to settle there.

Let’s discuss it.

The ability to support their resettlement in Canada financially is a need for many foreign nationals who seek to apply for permanent status in Canada. While those applying under spousal sponsorship and those seeking refuge are exempt from this criterion, the great majority of those applying for economic immigration will need to provide evidence of their ability to support themselves.

The majority of Express Entry immigration classes and candidates who are provincial nominees are covered by this rule. Notably, individuals applying through the province of Quebec and the Canadian Experience Class (CEC) are excluded from this requirement. If you are submitting an application under the economic immigration category, carefully study the program specifications to see if you need to provide proof of settlement funds. Make sure you are fully aware of what is necessary to demonstrate your ability to provide for yourself.

Proof of Funds of financial support

Applicants from the following programs must demonstrate sufficient assets in order to fulfill the proof of funds of financial support requirement:

1. Federal Skilled Worker - Express Entry

2. Federal Skilled Trades - Express Entry

3. Provincial Nominee Programs

This condition cannot be funded by borrowing money from someone else. All candidates must be able to use the funds to cover their family's living expenses (even if the spouse and children are not accompanying). Both applicants may provide financial records to satisfy these criteria if they are applying jointly with their spouses. Please be aware that if applicants have a genuine job offer and are currently permitted to work in Canada, they do not need to provide proof of finances.

How to show proof of funds?

An Express Entry candidate who receives an invitation to apply for Canadian permanent residency must include proof of finances with their application.

The readily accessible assets must be shown as proof of funds. Candidates cannot, therefore, use assets like real estate or vehicles to demonstrate their financial capability.

You cannot borrow this money. The primary applicant's name, as well as that of their spouse or civil union partner, must be on it (as long as the principal applicant can access those funds).

Both when they submit their application for Permanent Residence (PR) and after their permanent resident visa is granted, applicants must satisfy the evidence of funds criterion.

Applicants must present formal letters from the banks or other financial institutions where their funds are held as proof of funds. The following must be written in letters:

1. printed on the letterhead of the bank.

2. include their e-mail address (address, telephone number, and email address)

3. mention your name

4. identify all of your current bills, including credit card and loan balances.

5. Add the following for each of your current bank and investment accounts:

        a) number of accounts

        b) the day that each account was created

        c) the balance in each account

        d) the average balance in the account for the previous six months

Any documentation that differs from this can be the risk of being rejected at the officer's discretion.

As a result

You must provide evidence of funds totaling CAD 12,960 for one individual and CAD 24,083 for four people.

You are allowed to give documentation of your financial resources in Canada, including stocks, bonds, Treasury bills, mutual funds, provident funds, and others.

Following the submission of your visa application and receipt of an ITA (Invitation to Apply) for Express Entry or a nomination for PNP (Provincial Nominee Program), you must submit your proof of funding.
